Rock Stars & Angels
Every so often the mundane and superficial conspire and give birth to something pretty cool. If you know me at all, you know that I could take or leave TV. However, this summer on Tuesdays and Wednesdays I found myself glued to CBS to tune into Rockstar INXS. I’m a child of the eighties and love INXS as much as any other 80’s ankle biter. At a time when most reality TV is scripted to bring out the worst in people, Rockstar seems to bring out the best.
A few moments like Jordis Unga singing John Lennon’s Imagine even bordered on the sublime. When artists aspire, the world benefits. From the moment I saw J.D. perform Hand In My Pocket, I knew he was going all the way. He may have won, but the amazing creativity and beautiful moments along the way made Rockstar worth tuning in every week. Until the rest of television catches up and produces a show with half the value of Rockstar, I’ll continue to get my news from the net and entertainment from books.
For six of the twelve weeks Rockstar was on the air, I watched Rockstar with my new buddy, Tara. Where ever you are Tara, we miss you. Your journey has just begun.
